Sportswomen of NPGHS were encouraged to participate in a fundraising opportunity on the 27 th October. Approximately 60 racing cars (both modern and classic) drove through the NPGHS grounds to be cleaned by students, this started about 4.30 pm and went through to about 8.30 pm. As the lines of cars were cleaned, drivers were asked to give a donation to the school. The cars were incredible and were part of the Targa Rally. This is an annual event where cars (in different classes) are raced around the North Island. The rally is a chief sponsor for ‘Cure kids’ but as the cars are racing, other places are given opportunities for fundraising as well.

At this stage, about $550 has been raised for the school. The proceeds will go towards the engraving costs for the new Sporting Honours board that will be erected in the stadium. The school would like to thank Cleland Construction for sponsoring money for the creation of the Honours board. It was a great event and a huge thanks must go to all who participated (especially Mr Haimona who provided excellent music entertainment and a running commentary throughout the event).
