NPGHS SUCCESSFUL IN GYMNASTICS COMPETITION

For the last few weeks a group of very enthusiastic gymnasts have been practising every lunch time in preparation for the TSSSA Gymnastic competitions which were held on Wednesday the 19 th August, 2009.

The girls travelled to Hawera and arrived at the St John Gymnastics Club rooms at 5:30 pm. The competition was fiercely contested with each team competing on four different apparatus. Each girl competed on the beam, vault, bar and floor, with each result being added to a team total. The team with the highest score was the competition winner.

We were wonderfully supported by parents and family and special mention must be made of Charlotte Gilbraith (9DC) who was unable to compete because of injury but who travelled to the competition and enthusiastically supported all the girls.

Tatiana Munroz (12 BE), our Spanish exchange student, was a competitor in Team 2 and completed a great round of activities despite her 2 week training period in Gymnastics.

Congratulations to all the girls who entered. Thank you to parents and supporters of the team. The school appreciates your efforts.
