High Tea is the end of year formal dinner where we get to thank our leaders for 2009, to celebrate the achievements of the year, farewell the year 13’s and others who are leaving and to announce the leaders for 2010.

The year 12’s this year were very organised early in the year and set the theme ‘Hollywood’ for High Tea. This is a great opportunity for all the Year 12’s to develop working together as team to set up the venue. And they did that very well.

Awards were given to the following students:

Kathryn Coleman Shield for Hostel Spirit – Jorja Gower

Lauren & Jane Cup for support to the Head and Deputy Boarders – Georga Couchman and Brooke Cameron

Prep Award – awarded to a Year 11 student for diligence in Prep over a 3 year period – Jessica Stockwell

Amicitia Cup for friendship across all forms and cultures – Fotu Kalsakau

Publications Captain – Georga Couchman & Grace Hepburn

Tidiest Cube – for a girl who has been influential and encouraging others to keep their cubes and room tidy – who leads by example – Nicayla Gardner

Maire Scrimshaw Cup – Holly Black

House Captains for 2010
A new initiative for 2010 is the reinstatement of houses at the hostel.

House names are with a Scottish influence.
Douglas House – Alex Butler
Fraser House – Ellie Muller
Stewart House – Alix Hurley

The House Captains goal for 2010 is to be the first house named on the new Hostel House Cup.

Hostel Leadership badges have also been reinstated – with the lovely Thistle emblem. The leadership students for 2010 are very pleased to have them.

Hostel Leaders for 2010 are:
Shannon Atkin, Nikaela Boshier, Bryar Dunlop, Alesha Ford, Nea Mackie, Bonnie Roussell.

These girls will have joint responsibility of Publications, Cultural and International events, Peer Support and Academic support at Scotlands. They will also be responsible for other events such as Sports Days – and most importantly to bring home the Boarders/Day Girl cup.

The Head Girl and Deputy head Girl were chosen after 4 year 12’s went through a process of interviews and presentations.

Deputy Head Boarder for 2010 is Nicayla Gardner
Head Boarder
for 2010 is Maddie Best

The Deputy Head boarder Nikayla Gardner will have oversight of the House Captains for 2010.

And the Head Boarder Maddie Best will be responsible to take Scotlands to a new level for 2010.

It was a sad occasion especially when saying goodbye to the Year 13’s. The Hostel staff hope that all Year 13s of 2009 leave with fond memories of their ‘second’ home. Please make sure that you all stay in touch and tell us of your achievements and adventures in life.
