These championships were held on home turf at our stadium. For a team who had limited training (and a staff member who had next to no knowledge!), our girls did extremely well.

A special thanks to Sports Captain, Kate Broadmore, for her commitment and assistance to the team. Her understanding of what was required, especially with the ‘transition’, certainly played a huge part in the success of the team.

Despite not having rowers in all sections, we went into the final race on even points with Sacred Heart. This was the Senior Girls 2000m relay. In typical New Plymouth Girls' High School style, the girls lead from the start and never looked threatened!! So we now have the big, shiny Rowing Cup back at school ready for display!

The girls were a real credit to the school and I was especially proud of our seniors who showed great support and encouragement to the younger rowers.

Bring it on 2010!!
