Curriculum General


Year 9

All students study:
Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Technology

There is a choice between:
Arts (Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Arts), Languages (ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages), French, Possibly Japanese, Literacy, Spanish or Te Reo Maori), Technology (Biotechnology, Design Technology, Design & Visual Communication, Digital Technology or Textiles Technology)

Students may be placed in:
Numeracy, ESOL, Learning Skills and Literacy

Year 10

All students study:
English, Health & Physical Education, Mathematics, Science and Social Science

Students select three options:
Animal & Plant Science, Business Studies, Dance, Design Technology, Design & Visual Communications, Digital Technology, Drama, ESOL , Food and Nutrition, French, Possibly Japanese, Literacy, Music, Spanish, Sports Education, Te Reo Maori, Textiles Technology and Visual Arts

Students may be placed in:
Numeracy, ESOL and SPEC (South Pacific Education Course) – Shooting Star Award

Year 11

Year 11 students select SIX subjects.

Compulsory Subjects:
English, Mathematics and a Science

Students select three options

Year 12

Year 12 students select SIX subjects.

Compulsory Subject:
English

Students select Five options

Year 13

Year 13 students will select a full course of FIVE subjects and also have a study line.

Students select all of their subjects
